HMRC severe weather helpline
HMRC has a dedicated helpline number to help businesses and individuals adversely affected by severe weather or floods.
The dedicated helpline is available to provide comprehensive advice and should deal sympathetically with problems faced by businesses and individuals affected by severe weather problems. The helpline can help affected businesses and individuals as they come to terms with these unusual circumstances.
The special helpline is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday and on the weekends from 8.00am to 4.00pm can be reached on 0800 904 7900.
According to HMRC the helpline will also:
- agree installment arrangements where taxpayers are unable to pay as a result of severe weather or flooding;
- agree a practical approach when individuals and businesses have lost vital records as a result of severe weather or flooding;
- suspend debt collection proceedings for those affected by severe weather or flooding;
- cancel penalties when the taxpayer has missed statutory deadlines.
